Rare footage of a pearlfish "finding a home" inside a sea cucumber. The two creatures supposedly share a symbiotic relationship but it doesn't look that way toward the end of this video. "Unbelievable"
We were recently asked to locate this clip in our archives by the Biscayne National Park for a presentation they're making on weird wildlife. Couldn't resist posting this awesome nature footage. Can't wait to see the other animal anomolies they've uncovered...
Kinetic Creative owns and manages the rights to other rare stock nature footage from Vieques, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean islands. Nesting and hatching sea turtles, endangered brown pelicans nesting, single-celled bioluminescent organisms, humans swimming in the world's brightest bioluminescent bay.
Official Selection 2010 Sacramento Film & Music Festival, winner "Best Supporting Actress"
Jeremiah Mayhew directed and edited this entry into the Sacramento 10x10 Filmmaker Challenge. Every year small teams of indie filmmakers hit the streets and stir up the local creative talent pool to produce 10 minute films in 10 days. They're given a surprise common theme and random mandatory props and then sent off to write/cast/shoot/edit, often while holding down more than one job and a student schedule.
Our props were a roll of quarters and shin guards, look for em.
This year the Crest Theater was nearly at capacity for the premier of the official selections where the enthusiastic crowd participated in the "audience choice" awards and showed a sense of humor during the projector setups and miscues. The volunteers helped keep the event rolling smoothly and the tacos from Rubios were the cherry on top of the flan.
We think one of the best aspects of the 10x10 Challenge is being tossed into a group of strangers with the common goal of creating a short audio-visual experience at the expense of sleep, work and study time. For as stressful as it could have been, the set was as friendly as a backyard BBQ. Except it was in a kickin comics shop (Great Escape Games) and we had fresh fruit for craft services.
The cast and crew of Second Chance Comics were all a pleasure to work with. From their creativity to their flexibility, to their persevering attitudes, professionalism and excellent Yoda ears.
Big congrats to Camille Elizabeth for winning the "Best Supporting Actress"award and to Gayle for the bananas.
Sacramento charity efforts come in all styles & flavours, and the best way to describe this Roger's Jewelers annual event is definitely- "Athletic-techno-adventure-nerd-cicle". This year, participants and volunteers helped to raise over $200,000 in goods and services for Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services by racing around downtown Sacramento looking for clues to win a $20,000 diamond ring.
This text-message based scavenger hunt, run by the aptly named SCVNGR, started at the steps of the Capitol building with Mayor Kevin Johnson sending out the ceremonial 1st text. Participants then scoured the city from Old Sac to Downtown to Midtown gaining points toward over $35,000 in prizes.
Team Kinetic has covered this event several times in several cities so we knew what to expect. We had a crew of two videographers and three still photographers with over 10 lenses capturing the action all over town. The result is some of the most comprehensive event coverage we've shot for a charity event in Sacramento with many hours of video footage that will be repurposed into multiple video and print promo pieces for upcoming SCVNGR games. We're already booked to shoot documentary video for events across CA and the States in the coming months so look for more fun footage from fund-raisers soon.
Taiko drums are just cool no matter how you cut 'em, so when we were asked to make a promotional video for Mikuni Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar's Sushi Sumo Summer event, we turned up the bass and sliced and folded together a fun project. This event takes place in Denver Colorado and features sushi workshops, sumo wrestling, traditional Japanese music, dancing, origami classes and of course, the rockin taiko drum sessions.
This footage was shot on the Sony XDCAM EX and edited at Kinetic Creative in Sacramento.
