Location scouting is always fun, but it's another thing at 12,000 feet, above the tree line, surrounded by 14ers. We were heading through some rough mountain passes, shooting test photos on a Hummer mountain bike down some extremely vertical trails when we stopped for a break just outside of Telluride and captured this Alpin Glow. We were scouting for an upcoming Air Care (helicopter ambulance) video production and this spot seemed perfect. While we were filming, Tony Bennett pointed to a mountain just out of the frame and explained how he had actually been in a helicopter crash at the top years ago. He was the photographer in a heliskiing chopper that crashed badly during a white out. Turns out they had to be rescued by Air Care. |
