PRESS RELEASE "Light of Hope" - Local Benefit for Volunteer Court Appointed Advocates for ChildrenMichelangelo's Italian Restaurant and the Barton Art Gallery host this fundraising event with live artists and book signing Sacramento, CA, October 2, 2008: Sacramento County's Volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA) will be holding a fundraising benefit Thursday, October 2nd from 5:30 to 9:00pm. The event will take place at Michelangelo's Italian Restaurant and the Barton Art Gallery at 1723 "I" Street in Midtown Sacramento. This fundraising benefit will feature:Wine and hors d'oeuvres, live music, a silent auction of artwork by local artists, book signing by Dr. Angela Watts author of "Li'L Gnome Finds a Home" Every Dollar raised at this event goes directly to serving abused and neglected children in Sacramento County in the coming year. Volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) are everyday people who are trained and then appointed by judges to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children. The CASA volunteer spends time with social workers, foster parents, family, and most importantly - the child. The advocate provides the court a unique and heartfelt understanding of the child's needs and remains with the child until they are placed in a safe, permanent and nurturing home.
