Our second season of original content creation for Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage began filming with two top agents in the Marin County region of California. Time lapse footage of ferries, mountain bike trails and beaches made this shoot plenty of fun. Actually hoping we need to film some pick-up interviews or additional b-roll to really taste some of those bike trails... This morning we met up with Nicholas Alger and Asa Martinez of Hella Filming, a Sacramento-based radio controlled helicopter filming crew. Their fleet is setup with specific rigs custom designed for chasing fast subjects, hovering via GPS waypoints and even interior filming. Looking forward to incorporating these types of aerial shots into our upcoming corporate and commercial projects in Sactown! Lots of calico bass, some dolphin and a few sunfish. Filmed with Canon DSLRs and GoPro Heros with the Dive Housing. The dive housing is key, especially when comparing these shots with our underwater footage of this leatherback sea turtle on Vieques Island. The flat lens makes for a clear, sharp image underwater, vs. the blur you get from the original curved housing. Karl Alexander and his good friend and fellow natural educator, Captain Sharon Grasso, were out riding their bikes when they got a call to come to Esperanza, something was happening with the lionfish. They grabbed a bag full of cameras and batteries and headed down to the Vieques Conservation & Historical Trust to meet Mark Martin for a quick briefing, geared up and were suddenly on a small solar-powered boat and kayak. They shot everything as it happened from Cayo Afuera and the sugar cane pier with no scripting, just documenting the day and the reasons behind the lionfish hunting. This leatherback sea turtle was filmed nesting during the day at Navío beach on Vieques Island, Puerto Rico. Daytime nesting is very rare for this endangered species. The eggs were transported by the DNRA up the beach, away from the waterline. This beach has an ever shifting coastline because of the direction it faces and many times large sections of sand are washed away overnight with a good storm.
