Sacramento charity efforts come in all styles & flavours, and the best way to describe this Roger’s Jewelers annual event is definitely- “Athletic-techno-adventure-nerd-cicle”. This year, participants and volunteers helped to raise over $200,000 in goods and services for Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services by racing around downtown Sacramento looking for clues to win a $20,000 diamond ring.
This text-message based scavenger hunt, run by the aptly named SCVNGR, started at the steps of the Capitol building with Mayor Kevin Johnson sending out the ceremonial 1st text. Participants then scoured the city from Old Sac to Downtown to Midtown gaining points toward over $35,000 in prizes.
Team Kinetic has covered this event several times in several cities so we knew what to expect. We had a crew of two videographers and three still photographers with over 10 lenses capturing the action all over town. The result is some of the most comprehensive event coverage we’ve shot for a charity event in Sacramento with many hours of video footage that will be repurposed into multiple video and print promo pieces for upcoming SCVNGR games. We’re already booked to shoot documentary video for events across CA and the States in the coming months so look for more fun footage from fund-raisers soon.
