sacramento social media marketing
Earlier this year, Karl Alexander and Jeremiah Mayhew were selected by Samsung USA to be video bloggers in their Samsung Mobile Explorers campaign. Team Kinetic traveled to Canada for the duration of the 2010 Winter Olympics, interviewing medalists and fans and thoroughly exploring the city, the culture, and the food.
Karl and Jeremiah made daily video blog entries which were then posted on the Samsung sites. Mobile Explorers from five countries used their social media skills to promote the videos. One video was an awareness piece for Hannah Teter's charity, one was a PSA for a recycling campaign, and each was judged, critiqued, and voted on by an international audience. The campaign was highlighted on Samsung USAs FaceBook page and from beginning to end they added over 30,000 new 'fans' to their opt-in advertising site. Great fun and big ROI.
To get to Canada, Team Kinetic pulled out the stops and unleashed their internet based supporters, crashed live TV broadcasts, grabbed ENG news crews at 3am, and of course threw a rockin party to get votes and recognition to be selected by the Samsung marketing team leaders. It worked. And Jeremiah beat Mark S. Allen (TV personality and Guinness Book record holder) at a burger eating contest on live television. Nice.
BTW, Robson and Granville, that's where it's at in Vancouver.
